Karen Rosenberg is a landscape architect and research consultant at the Centre for Design. She completed a Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1998 and Graduate Diploma of Landscape Architecture in 2005. Designing for sustainability in the built environment was a strong focus and passion in Karen’s work and study in the field of Landscape Architecture. Within this work is an understanding that imaginative and integrated design approaches can achieve outstanding environmental solutions, and that with the increased industry and public awareness these solutions are achievable within the built environment professions. This has become a strong driver in her career to date.
In early 2006 Karen joined the City of Melbourne to work in the Major Projects Delivery team as they completed the CH2 project. Her role encompassed many facets, including the supervision of post-completion works, preparation and presentation of building technical tours, and the preparation of the Green Star As-Built rating submission.
Since joining the Centre for Design in 2007 Karen’s research has been concentrated in the sustainable built environment area, including studies on rating tools, indoor environment quality, and products and materials selection. Her primary field of interest is sustainability in the urban environment, and upcoming projects are likely to include further research in this area.
